Hours: part-time, approximately 2 per week
Contract: August 2021-May 2022
Location: Kaleidoscope L’Anse
Course Description: This class covers the basics of computing, such as proper keyboarding skills and how to use common software. Students will also do units on Lego Robotics, where they use beginning coding to program their robots. Ages 9-14, Tuesdays 3:45-5:00. (Instructor may choose topics according to his or her area of expertise and areas of student interest.)

​Job Duties
Kaleidoscope instructors will be responsible for the following:

Instruction
Instructors will be responsible for offering in-person instruction to their students, using the educational methods of their choosing. Virtual instruction may be substituted for in-person instruction when necessary, such as snow days or other emergency closures (including but not limited to COVID closures).

Prep Time
Instructors will be responsible for planning content and curriculum for 28 weeks of class for the year, including planning lessons for each class using either Kaleidoscope’s lesson plan template or a format of their own choice.

Qualifications
Instructors should have a background in computers and/or robotics, and should have some experience working with children.

Salary
Pay begins at a base range of $18-24 per hour and is commensurate with education and experience.

Benefits include some paid prep time and sick pay.

Kaleidoscope: Keweenaw Alternative Education Organization seeks virtual instructors for the 2021/2022 school year. Responsibilities include developing curriculum and engaging with K-12 students weekly on a virtual, non-live platform. Experience with children and a passion for your subject area are a must!

​Hours are flexible and could range from 2-8 hours per week.

Base pay begins at $18 per hour, with potential increases based on education and experience.

• Ice Skating
• Performing Arts
• Skiing
• Sports Sampler

Requirements:

• Degree or work towards a degree in education, or related experience.
• Familiarity with communication using virtual platforms.
• Experience in the subject(s) you would like to teach.
