We provide weekly online Virtual Electives and in-person Optional Learning Experience classes to families residing in Houghton, MI and the surrounding Keweenaw area, including at our Kaleidoscope L’Anse learning center.
Kaleidoscope was founded by a group of parents with the belief that all families should have a say in their children’s educational pursuits. We provide educational resources to our community and collaborate with homeschooling and traditional schooling families to connect them to educational opportunities that match their needs.
If your family hopes to elevate at-home and community-based learning for your school-aged children and is seeking support to do so, Kaleidoscope may be a match for you!
"I have weekly horsemanship lessons, an Art class which I see my friends at, and at home I’m learning how to sew on a new machine that’s just for me! I made a stuffed felt animal for my sister."
Families enrolled in this option first register their students with The Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium & Keweenaw (CLK) Virtual Programs as either shared-time or full-time students. Kaleidoscope students participate in non-core virtual learning activities that encourage exploration and fun for each of their electives, and can add flexible, hands-on activities through our Optional Learning Experience choices.
Kaleidoscope is one of several Virtual Programs partners of CLK. Families enrolled with CLK’s Virtual Programs have the option of choosing one partner organization or a combination to receive free tuition for at-home or community learning.
“Kaleidoscope is a real ally in my children’s education. We have flexibility in how we use the free tuition based on our own educational goals and projects we have planned for the year. Plus, my kids love the weekly virtual learning activities. They look forward to it every week! For me, the virtual learning activities provide a relief - having learning materials available to me with such ease. Being part of Kaleidoscope brings so much life to our homeschool experience.”
Sign up for weekly Virtual Electives and participate in related Optional Learning Experiences. Tuition is free through the CLK school district, and a self-pay option is available to all other students.
